Living in the Sunshine

I stopped to see the beach and to listen to the waves for 5 minutes before heading home, because I was really “busy” today.

We were going to sit in the hot tub and drink our coffee, but we didn’t. We went for a walk with the kids instead.

We were going to go for a drive to test out my friend’s new car, but we didn’t. We sat on the patio and watched the hawks circling overhead instead.

We were going to make lunch, but rather we put out fruit and meat and cheese and told everyone to help themselves.

We joyfully watched the kids play all day, appreciating them still being kids. We relaxed in the sunshine and talked the day away and there was nothing else I would have rather done. We were very busy, being.

We flowed and danced and loved being together side by side, enjoying our kids and our friendship and living our happily ever after in the sunshine. This is it. This is my version of the best life. Thank you my friend, for sharing your weekend and family and home and thoughts with me. xo

How did you live it up today? What does your happily ever after look like?  Be well, BeLOVErs.

Pure Joy

Charlie and I were excited all day for this. We were anticipating finishing our day and packing up our duffle bags for an overnight stay with our BFFs. We stopped at 7-11 to buy snacks and popping cap guns.

I’m only sharing this picture that Charlie took on our ride down south because I want to hold on to the other memories in my mind.

I loved that from the moment we stepped out of the car, Charlie was already running away with his BFF.  We did see them now and then and got to share in some of their joy. Like when they decided to be polar bears and dared each other to jump into the freezing, cold pool. Boys will be boys and we laughed and enjoyed their antics.

Listening to friends and watching them interact is the best gift. They adore each other and got into a state of flow in 2 seconds, just like their mamas. We picked up where we left off, happy to be together again.

Pure joy, just being together.

These are the days…life is good.

Have a good weekend, BeLoveRs.

Simplicity

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” – Confucius

I am so happy to be home. We had a great, family vacation in Yosemite and I’m still smiling. However, after spending 3 nights in a small hotel room with five of us plus snow gear, suitcases, coolers and visitors, I am really appreciating being back home in our own space and am ready to sleep in our own beds in our own rooms again.  It’s the little things…

It’s Sunday once more. I hope you enjoyed your family today and got to rest before the week begins again tomorrow. Wishing you well… have a great week!

Back Story

You know there’s always a back story to what we see and read.

Facebook and Instagram and blogging and family photos and parties and  e-V-e-R-y-T-h-I-n-G is a show. They represent the-best-of-our life show!  But there’s typically the behind the scenes events we don’t share.  Only the people closest to us get to see and really know and get the back stage pass.

We work hard every day to hold it together, to shine, to be prepared, to show up, to be the best we can be and it takes work and struggles and makeup and cute clothes and wigs. Yeah, we all have a wig or a mask that we wear. Yep, we do. Quick, smile, you’re on candid camera!!

I choose to share the highlights and yet there is usually a back story. Sometimes the back story helps me to actually write my story after I stop and digest and reflect to glean the good.

Today one of my BFFs shared this with me after I gave her a back stage pass to one of my posts:  “I love the way your back stories always end with a silver lining. You seek it out and recognize it. That’s your gift.”

We all have our struggles. We are all learning and adapting and doing the best we can. Isn’t that a beautiful thing?  We’re doing something right and sharing the (high)lights and creating our love stories every day. I love seeing your snapchat stories, Instagram posts, blogs and Facebook status updates. You’re the best reality TV! Keep shining. Keep sharing. Keep living it up.

nAMaste and thank you my friend for sharing your words of wisdom.

Simple Date with my Daughter

Our schedules are busy. Our lives are full. We long to create space and to spend meaningful time together.

Today we decided to walk 2.2 miles together to pick up my car from the dealer. We enjoyed the journey and the quiet time together, feeling the wind on our faces, watching the gray clouds roll in and noticing things we don’t normally see from the car.

After we got the car, we continued our date with French fries and chicken strips from Chick- Fil-a, and just sat together, watching the rain fall down talking about life.

I’m thankful she still wants to be with me and that we made time for each other. Thanks my sweetheart, teenager!  I love you and our crazy journey together!!

Uh-Oh…

  Another practical joke…

Charlie came home with these today and I thought you might need a laugh too.

He won them in his math class, and his teacher modeled them for everyone, over her pants of course. Maybe this is what they mean by Common Core??

They basically looked and felt like a thin, sheer and shiny hair net and made everyone laugh at their ridiculousness.

I took a picture of him modeling them and he begged me not to share it, reminding me that I must respect his privacy, which I do. Without his permission, I don’t share anything that would harm or  embarrass  him, so I’ll have to keep that memory for myself.

Just know, that emergency underwear folded into a little tin do exist, in case you were wondering and wanted to be prepared for an emergency or if you need to make someone laugh.

Safe. Sanitary. Secure.

Be well and stay safe! πŸ™‚

Where Does Your Mind Take You?

Do you ever think about how powerful your mind is?

Do you ever think about this amazing gift that we’ve all been given and all the choices we get to make?

And how all the choices we make build on each other and take us where we are going?

We get to choose over and over again and if we don’t like something, we can change our mind. We can pick a different path. We can be still. We can be consumed. We can be determined. We can let go.

This amazes me.

Where is your mind taking you? Do you know where you want to go?
