Be Giving

“Be giving, forgiving, compassionate and loving.”

You gotta love a cup of tea that comes with an inspirational message.

Julie gave me this fun mug for my birthday and when I drink from it I think of her and smile. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. I brought her with me to work and it was like having my friend with me.

Speaking of my giving and loving friend, today she sent in a healthy breakfast for our bright and early team meeting. What a sweet and caring surprise. I love her and the breakfast parfait was quite a treat too. I am so lucky!

I am surrounded by giving and loving friends and family and they sure make life sweet. Last night Pat baked three different types of cookies for our PEO meeting to share with all of us. And today Sam took me out to lunch because he thought I needed to get out of the office. I want to be like them when I grow up! Or maybe I am practicing being like them, while I grow up.

Tonight Juliana and I baked Snickerdoodle cookies to share and give away. As she was packing up some up to take with her to share with her friend, she said that I had rubbed off on her. I smiled. Today was good.

Life. Full circle. Karma. Connection. Thankful.

I am content and can’t wait to share cookies and tea again tomorrow.

Day 36: Summer

Who would have thought I would enjoy being “home” this summer?

By being home and not being “busy,” I’ve created space for magic to happen and I am loving it.

I’m enjoying my kids and my friends and my home and my work and my husband. I’m enjoying the flexibility and the lack of stress and rushed feeling. I’m enjoying the opportunity to say yes and to create experiences on the fly without being too busy.

Today I finished our puzzle with Juliana and felt a sense of mindless accomplishment!

I love that the kids have come and sat by me and we have worked together on our puzzle throughout this past week, sharing conversation while we created patterns and filled the gaps. Thank you Nate and Becky for our gift!

I also love that Julie texted me first thing this morning to see what I was doing and to see if I wanted to head over to Santana Row for an hour just because. I wanted to sit in my jammies and drink coffee, but I can never say no to Julie and am always thankful for her spunk and drive and shared curiousity. She keeps me moving and exploring and I adore her!

I made her stop for a selfie because I loved the surroundings and pretending we were on holiday because we are! Thanks, Jewels!!

Later in the day, Juliana and I went out to celebrate her getting her driver’s permit yesterday by getting bubble teas and shopping together. I can’t believe we have another permitted driver in our house.

And for dinner tonight we took the advice of one of Juliana’s snapchat friends, and made Mac and Cheese and added BBQ chicken with melted cheese. We had a late, fun, family dinner at home and it was perfect.

I am going to bed early tonight as I was up really late last night and haven’t been able to shake the tired feeling all day today.

Nevertheless, today was good.

How was your Saturday?

Chili

I asked Jeff what we should make for dinner tonight. I’m out of ideas and everything sounds boring. He picked chili, as it was cold, cloudy and rainy today.  So we went to the grocery store after Charlie’s soccer game to pick up all the ingredients. It was fun shopping together.

I asked Juliana to help me chop the peppers, while Charlie helped to declutter the kitchen table and I began browning the meat and onions. Jeff and Christian were working on other projects.

I loved having my creative girl in the kitchen with me again.

She sees love like I do… everywhere…even in peppers!

Just another day in the life, living happily ever after one day at a time. How was your day?

Palo Alto Stroll

Juliana and I enjoyed getting out of the house for a little bit today. We walked down University Avenue in Palo Alto as we had a return to make. It was a gorgeous day and we were happy to be outside and to shop together.

The way I got dressed up was to put on a little mascara, along with my yoga pants and T-shirt. Super casual is how I role, oh and no shower and I forgot earrings! This is my imperfect normal. Last minute planning and I loved it.  I’ve learned that I don’t really care what I’m doing, as long as I’m sharing time with loved ones.

Today was good, just being together with Juliana and enjoying our time together.

Life is good. How was your day?

Simple Date with my Daughter

Our schedules are busy. Our lives are full. We long to create space and to spend meaningful time together.

Today we decided to walk 2.2 miles together to pick up my car from the dealer. We enjoyed the journey and the quiet time together, feeling the wind on our faces, watching the gray clouds roll in and noticing things we don’t normally see from the car.

After we got the car, we continued our date with French fries and chicken strips from Chick- Fil-a, and just sat together, watching the rain fall down talking about life.

I’m thankful she still wants to be with me and that we made time for each other. Thanks my sweetheart, teenager!  I love you and our crazy journey together!!

Sadie Hawkins

Tonight was the Sadie Hawkins dance and Juliana asked a friend to go with her.

It was fun to watch her get up the courage to ask someone and then watch her be excited and nervous up until the date. She made a poster inviting her date to go with her and was so happy when he said yes.

I helped her pick out an outfit and did her makeup and gave her some hair styling tips. My baby girl is growing up!!

We went shopping together for appetizers for her friends before the dance, and cleaned the house together.

While we gone, Charlie decided to decorate the house with streamers, signs and paper lanterns. He is very cute with this sappy stuff and I love it.

The kids were dressed in Surf attire to match the casual theme. They hung out for awhile before I dropped them off, fashionably late.

I hope they are having a good time!

Good night.
