Day 16: Happy

20120709-221539.jpg

I had so much fun in Cabo with Stacey and friends, doing yoga and paddle boarding, eating sashimi and sushi, dancing at Cabo Wabo, and hanging by the pool and in the hot tub. It was very relaxing and I have a perm-a-grin on my face.

I am going to miss my friends when we move, even though I know we’ll still see each other and pick up where we leave off the next time we see each other! 20120709-221308.jpg

Me and Stacey, near and far…I miss you my friend!

Day 17: SUP Yoga in Cabo

20120708-230944.jpg

I can’t believe Jeff let me go to Cabo for 5 days when we’re moving in 17!! I can’t believe I’m having so much fun and relaxing with friends when I “should be” stressing and worrying about all the last minute details to wrap up before the big move. But I kinda believe in living in the moment and that you’ll use all the time you have and fill it whether you have a week or a month – and everything usually gets done, so why stress? When I get home, I have my list and I’ll be busy from 7 am to
Midnight+ every night so why worry now?

Today we rented paddle boards and did SUP yoga on the Sea of Cortez for 3 hours!! We had so much fun paddling and falling in and laughing and taking pictures with the Go Pro camera. It was a perfect day.

Day 19: Cabo

20120707-002745.jpg

We did 2 1/2 hours of yoga today in the hot sun. I thought I was gonna pass out, but I didn’t give up. I think I found what I want to get better at when we move to Holland.

After yoga, we had a fabulous Mexican Lunch, followed by sitting in the pool and relaxing.

The real yoginis were ready for a second round of power yoga with handstands and headstands, scorpions and running men. I got tired just watching!! J.k… They are crazy and amazing!!

Dinner at Edith’s was delicious. The seafood and guacamole, margaritas and dessert filled us up.

To burn off calories, we stopped at Cabo Wabo and danced the night away!

Time for bed so we can do it again tomorrow!!

Day 24: Tennis and Gymnastics

20120702-000521.jpg

Stacey and I played tennis for 3 hours today! I haven’t picked up a racket for a month and it was so much fun to be playing again.

Afterwards we rushed to get ready to go see the Girls Gymnastic Olympic Trials. It was really cool to see such talent and American pride. We were there to see Texas Dreams Kennedy Baker try out for the Olympic Team. In four years we’ll be back to see Grace Quinn securing her spot!! Blink.20120702-001046.jpg

Day 25: Lemons

Planning this move has made me get the most out of each day, like squeezing every last drop of juice out of a lemon, and then squeezing once more just in case there is still a drop left.

That’s really kinda what it’s been like every day and I can’t imagine slowing down much. I thought I’d slow down today, but NOT!

I did enjoy a quiet morning, relaxing on the couch with a cup of coffee and watching mindless tv.

The day then started with a funeral for Colleen’s husband, Steve. Friends gathered and supported their family by attending the funeral and providing food for the reception. It’s always ironic how nice these gatherings are on such a sad occasion. It’s like a forcing function, where the celebration of life takes precedence over everything else and it’s so nice to be gathered as a community, sharing stories and togetherness.

After the funeral, I picked up the two little ones from a birthday and graduation celebration party. It felt ironic that we could again be celebrating life but in a totally different way, with a more upbeat feel.

Typically that would be enough for one day, but my Stacey is still in town for the weekend and I wanted to spend the rest of the day together, of course!! We all met up at our house and crammed into one car and drove up to San Francisco.

We got out and froze atop Twin Peaks.

We drove by where we used to live and through the Castro where we saw more than we wanted too, and then down thru Noe Valley, and around to Ocean Beach. We had dinner at Than Longh, one of my favorite restaurants for crab and garlic noodles. It’s been two years since we’ve been there and it was on my list of places to visit before the move. We can check that off the list and it didn’t disappoint. If you’ve never been, make a reservation and go hungry! Mmm…

And for dessert we headed back over to Cupertino for Charlie’s favorite – Beard Papa’s for cream puffs. They were pretty tasty!

The night ended at 11:30, after fits of laughter, playing cards, doing hair, wrestling and playing with our iPhones, sharing pictures and videos and playing games. It doesn’t matter what we are doing, I just have fun doing whatever and laughing. Tonight was fun!!

Day 96 – Silicon Valley

I love this place! It was such a gorgeous day out by the Stanford Dish. Hoover tower is out in the distance, as well as San Francisco Bay and surrounding cities. It was so hot though, but totally worth it to be outside. I love coming up here and hiking and chatting and admiring the views. Time flies. I have so many great memories from here – like when Stacey was pregnant with Miss C and we’d walk early in the morning before I went to work. And family walks, and fireworks before they put up fences, and my 40th birthday with Michele, and now today with Marcia. What a great day!! Don’t you want to walk down this path with me? Or maybe you’d rather walk up? Can’t wait to go again. xo
