Day 277: Hanging in the Trees

It was such a gorgeous day in Amstelveen today. Luckily the sun was shining, even though it was still very cold and we needed three layers! We decided to go on an adventure to Fun Forest in the Amsterdamse Bos. The have ropes courses high in the trees for us to climb and explore on small wooden platforms and cables and clips. I have always wanted to do a ropes course and never have. We were out hanging around and climbing for 4 hours and had the best day! We are all exhausted, so I’d say it was good!

Life is good. The kids can’t stop talking about their fun day. We all had a great time being together out doors.

Namaste.

  1. Very Cool!!! Why don’t we have things like that in California? Too many lawyers, law suits, liabilities??? Or because we don’t have forests in So. Cal? You’ve had so many amazing experiences. I really appreciate all you share with us.

    • Oh, Mary, it was so much fun and scary at the same time! This little fun forest is part of the larger forest by our house, which was man made in the early 1900’s as public works program. This is one of my favorite places to hang out and ride bikes, run, and explore. I’m sure they have ropes courses in California, probably as part of summer camp programs. But you’re right, probably lots of legalities that get in the way!! I am so glad you love seeing the adventures! Hopefully they give you inspiration to go outside and play!! (which I know you do!) xo

  2. Looks like fun. I’m jealous. I will have to make it a priority to seek out something like this in CA. I would think they have it. Thanks for sharing.

    • Kris – It was such a wonderful experience. I loved helping the kids and watching them move through the challenges. Christian just took off and went through on his own, moving quickly from event to event. I was scared but just faced the fears and went through them, with Charlie encouraging me, “C’mon mom, it’s not like you’re gonna fall. Just jump off!” I loved it!! We should do a girls’ outing to one in California when we find one!!

    • Dad – you have to do a ropes course. You would absolutely love it! It scares the heck out of you but you have to face your fears and go through them and keep moving forward! I was exhausted by the end and went to bed early! Let’s find one in California and all go together!! Love you.

  3. This looks fun– I’m going to add it to our list! I do think they’re much less concerned here with legalities and who’s to blame if you get hurt and all of that. So much more is just at-your-own-risk, or use-common-sense. I don’t mind it.

  4. Oh my gosh, I cannot believe how much fun that looks! I love that you guys did this as a family, and that you did it too! Good for you, Adriana! Love you!
