Day 64: Our Honda in Holland

Ssshhh! Don’t laugh…but our really fancy, clean, and shiny minivan is finally in our possession again! I never thought I’d be so excited to see it, but after having all three kids sitting in the cramped back seat of the rental car for the past 2 months, it really made me want to sing! I love that they can spread out and that there are sliding doors and room for all our stuff and extra seats for Oma and Opa when they arrive. It’s the little things that make me happy!

I’m sure I’ll be quite the sight with my sexy racks on top and Santa Cruz stickers… Ya, right! Just remember not to laugh!

It took 3 months from the time we shipped it until it’s journey through customs and adaptations until we could have it back today, and I am thrilled, even if it is a minivan!!

    • Well, that will be a challenge. I did manage to park it at the tennis club today and was so proud of myself. I folded in the mirrors before I was about to leave the car. And then tried to open the door. But there wasn’t much room, and I would have felt really bad for the person parked next to me because I don’t think they could have gotten back into their car very easily! So yes – the parking spots will be a challenge! Luckily there is easy parking in front of my house and usually plenty of parking at school – which is usually where I’m driving too and from. And road trips will be awesome – except when we have to park! Wish us luck!!

      • I was about to say how much I appreciate a minivan. It is like the Swiss Army Knife of vehicles. But then I read the bit about the small parking spaces and it made me chuckle to myself. Another example of American culture where bigger is better. The Europeans can probably spot an American car a mile away. Oh well, the laugh will be on them when you’re the one who can transport the whole team plus their gear and the snacks. Go girl!!!

  1. I am so happy for you!!!! You go girl! A lot of Dutch women will wish they would own a mini van like yours. You may start a trend.( ha ha)
