Day 280: Simplicity

I like simple things. Really, I do. I am very happy being home with family and friends and even being alone in my clean house. I love to cook and to entertain, and I love to be outside in the sunshine and today I was quite content.

Today I decided to ride my bike to run errands, finally. It’s never been my first choice to hop on my bike to get me from A to B. if I can drive there, I typically prefer that method of transportation. But today it was sunny and cool and was my time to feel like a Dutch girl! I hopped on my bike to an appointment, and then decided to ride to a new grocery store. Now I know my local friends here are all biking everywhere, but this is new to me. When I went to the grocery store, I limited my shopping by removing my black mesh basket from the front of my orange bike and carrying one plastic bag, that I could place in my saddle bags after I was done. It was a novelty to me to limit my choices, only buy what could fit in the bag and basket and be done. I carried my loot over to my bike, and repackaged everything to fit, before heading home.

I was proud of myself for trying something new and simple. I did however think about how I couldn’t stop anywhere else, because I had groceries in the “car.” And there was no way to lock up the loot! A new way of thinking. I did enjoy this method of shopping and transportation and will definitely go again as the weather stays nice. Simplicity. Gotta love it.
