The door bell rang while we were just hanging out with friends. We weren’t expecting anyone else just then. Charlie said there was an Amazon truck parked outside. I hadn’t ordered anything recently so I was curious as to why they were knocking on my door.
It was my lucky day! The package was for me and it was a gift from my sister! You have no idea but I LOVE surprises for no reason and today was one of those surprise kinda days.
Thank you my sister for loving me and surprising me with a thoughtful book! I can’t wait to read it and I’ve only got 10 pages left in the current book I’m reading !!
Thanks a million!! I’m already happy and haven’t even opened it up yet!
Have you surprised someone lately??
My friends from Holland happened to be in the Bay Area this week. I knew they were in town through our kids, as they were sending each other snap chat stories, Instagram updates and iMessage texts. I love social media and how it makes our world a little more connected and smaller after all.
I was busy working when I received a Facebook Messenger notification from their mama, telling me she was at the Winchester Mysyery House, 15 minutes away. I knew I had to see her somehow.
They decided to pop in to our house for a quick hug and cup of coffee before continuing on with their vacation.
I was so happy to see them here in my space and to hear what they liked about an American house, just like the movies! They liked the squirrel running across the backyard fence and noticed the basketball hoop in the driveway. They liked seeing the garbage truck drive by and our little row houses in the neighborhood.
I just loved having them sit on my couch, near the Christmas tree and sharing stories and laughter once again. It felt just like it did back in Holland and was a gezellig little visit, just much too short.
I hope we get to see them again before they head back home. The kids were so sad to not be home for their quick visit.
Thank you Jessurun’s for taking the time to stop by! We miss your family and you made my day. Hope you enjoy the rest of your journey around the West Coast.
Today the Volleyball Girls got together to celebrate our spring and summer birthdays. We have been playing together for probably five to six years. We met at Dish Dash, one of the best restaurants in Sunnyvale. One of our friends brought her mama, which we all encouraged and invited to join us of course. Mama’s are always welcome.
We enjoyed conversations and delicious food and got up to switch seats so that we could all have a chance to socialize together. As we were preparing to receive and split the bill, we were delivered a surprise. Dana’s mama picked up the tab and treated all of us to lunch today. What a sweet surprise.
I love this idea of taking care of others when you are able to share your gifts of time, talents and financial blessings. She seemed happy and proud and we were all shocked and thankful.
Life is good. Thank you.
