Office After Hours

This is my small, home office, viewed from my couch after work, where I work from home.

I am enjoying seeing it from a different perspective, after dinner and dishes, just relaxing and doing nothing while the day light turns to night. I haven’t turned on the lights yet and like watching and feeling the transition of time changing and passing, but now it’s starting to get too dark and it feels weird to sit in the darkness.

 Let there be light.

When I illuminated my messy desk, I noticed that love surrounds me that I didn’t notice before. There is a heart shaped stand that holds a picture of my family. There is a glass blown heart that I received on a trip to Cabo with my BFF and there is a heart shaped frame holding a picture of me and my honey. I like this space, and like it even more now that I am seeing it from a different perspective.

What does your space look and feel like? Do you like the place where you spend many of your waking hours? What can you do to make it enjoyable?

Christmas Cards

IMG_6608

I still love the Christmas and Holiday card sharing tradition, even though we have social media and instant updates.  Do you?

Do you send cards? Do you enjoy receiving cards? I do. I do.

I absolutely love this tradition and love it even more now that Juliana has been helping me. We have a Google Doc that we update every year keeping our addresses current and I love how organized the process has become. She likes to hand write the addresses and stuffs the cards inside the envelopes for me. She keeps them in alphabetical order and has them ready for me to see and touch, stamp and seal.

As I touch each card, I spend a moment thinking of the person or family that the card is going to and reflect on our relationship and connection and say a prayer for them. It’s a little sacred moment that I truly enjoy.

Thank you for your cards, thoughts and well wishes – whether digitally or physically. I love the anticipation of waiting for the cards to arrive each day and seeing and opening your cards. The kids know how much I love this and even though they want to open them, they wait for me to do it and watch. We hang them up on our kitchen wall so that we can all enjoy the lovely faces and friendships and recall stories of how we know one another.  I love seeing how families grow up and change so magically from year to year.

Wishing you love and light and a Merry Christmas in only 5 more days.

Love and Light – A Hostess Gift

Love and light are two of my favorite things and I found a way to share them with friends.
This year I’ve been making these beautiful jars filled with light, and giving them as thank you gifts to the friends who invite us to celebrate the holidays together.

I love turning on the light and bringing the lit jar into their homes as we greet each other, sharing love and light.

If you’re interested in making them too, I purchased 8oz mason jars, short strands of firefly LED lights on Amazon, ribbon, tags and bows and tape. I taped the battery pack to the inside part of the lid and just twisted the light strand to fit inside the jar, and turned on the switch before closing the lid, tying on a tag and sticking on a bow. So simple, right?

Wishing you love and light.

Day and Night – Love the Light

I am stressed. This time of year stresses me out and gives me anxiety, every single time it comes around. I know it’s coming and I do my best to manage it but I find myself overwhelmed and loving it all at the same time. Yin and Yang.

I’m practicing slowing down in the busyness, at least to breathe and to pay attention to my family and my surroundings and to my body. That hopefully balances out the to do lists, chaos and disorder that surround and swirl around me daily. The key word is practicing. I’m still learning. *smile*

The light colored leaves captured my attention on my walk today with my friend. I love these colors and shapes and how they look both beautiful on the branches and fallen covering the ground.

The purple and pink sky took my breathe away and slowed me down before getting in the car to drive Charlie to his event. I loved driving around and watching the sky show. Juliana mentioned that it looked like we  lived in Aruba or Hawaii with that kind of sunset. I’m glad she enjoyed it too.

After Charlie’s practice, he asked me to drive down the street with his friends still in the car so that we all could see the house that is fully decorated with lights and animated inflatables, including santa in a helicopter. There was also a figure with a lit up countdown to Christmas that displayed there are 15 days left until Santa arrives. YIKES!! Only 2 more weeks to enjoy the insanity and make memories.

Wishing you love and light and peace amongst the chaos, BeLoveRs. Remember to breathe in happiness and breathe out stress. Naaaaaahmaaaaste.
