This is looking up into the sky from the underside of the big tree in my front yard. I’ve been waiting for her magic show to open and today was the big day for me to show up and see her in her colorful glory.
I love watching her change every day and seeing her sisters all lined up and down the street, welcoming us home every day in an array of beautifully mixed colors. They are gorgeous and represent that the holidays are coming and that it’s cold outside.
I will enjoy these moments before the leaves begin to fall. And then I’ll enjoy those moments too of purity and nakedness and clean, visual structures.
As the world rushes by, remember to slow down and enjoy the magic that swirls around you and live in your moment, right now and share your story of being with those you love.
Where is Fall hiding?
I put my boots on the other day and a long sleeved shirt, only to have to change into shorts and flip flops a couple hours later.
It was 95 degrees mid afternoon today in Milpitas. Is this normal?
And driving home tonight at 10pm, I had the windows open on the freeway and the car temperature read 75 degrees outside. This is strange.
I’m ready for fall to hurry up and arrive before we start seeing Christmas decorations in the stores, while it still feels like summer!
How do you feel about this strange weather? How is it affecting you?
I love fall and watching and feeling the seasons change.
I’ve changed out of flip flops and bare feet and am covered in socks and boots now.
The scarves and sweaters are out and the corduroy pants are on.
There is a chill in the air. The bed warmer is on and the heater hums and warms our house.
The trees have changed colors and the leaves are starting to fall. I love this time of the year.
Today I came home and Charlie was busy sweeping up the leaves and making his first pile of the year. He’s hoping the leaves will last until Christmas. Colorful leaves provide so many hours of free and joyful entertainment! I can’t wait for Sydney and Jessie to come over to build the biggest piles ever!
I am thankful for the changing seasons and time to bundle up and drink warm drinks and enjoy the earlier nights.
Life is good.
What do you like about the fall?
I love this time of the year and watching the seasons change.
I love coming home everyday and watching the leaves change colors and seeing the fallen leaves on the grass and ground.
I love the way the light filters in, in the morning and late afternoon.
I love wearing scarves and boots and layering long sleeved tops and sweaters.
Today I had a bowl of soup for lunch, another fall favorite joy. I baked my simple box recipe of cinnamon coffee cake too and enjoyed the smell that filled the house.
At night, I like to put on cozy and fuzzy socks and turn the heater on my mattress cover and feel heavy blankets on top of me, snuggled up around my neck.
What do you love about fall?
Life is good.
I love fall and the crisp air and watching the leaves change colors. I love the natural light in the morning and watching the sunset.
This is a rose that is blooming in my garden this morning and caught my eye.
I love beautiful and simple things.
Do you have fall traditions? I love making soups and stews and love being at home.
Good night, BeLoveRs!!
I sent the kids out to capture some photos that represented fall to them that I could use for my blog tonight, while I was busy preparing dinner and working in the kitchen.
I loved that the two younger ones were up for the challenge and loved all their selfies that came along with the fall foliage shots.
Happy first day of Fall! It’s a time for new beginnings and do-overs and to rest before the craziness of the holiday season is upon us!! I hope the rain comes soon too, to fill our lakes and reservoirs and end the California drought. Namaste.
“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”
― Vincent van Gogh
It’s Day 12 of my gratitude gift giving and today I am giving thanks for the beauty of nature that surrounds us.
I keep smiling as I watch how the trees are changing daily.
I’m admiring the small blooms in my yard and appreciating the colors that brighten our yard.
I’m loving the light shows as the sun rises and begins to set.
And I’m aware, which is really cool, because how often do you really pay attention to your daily surroundings? The leaves are falling now and the grass is covered in colors of fall.
Life is beautiful, especially when you see.
Do you see what I see?
What do you see in your part of the world?
Fall begins tomorrow…
These pictures were taken around Sunnyvale today while I was busy running errands. I love the magnificent, random tree structures, the lighting and the changes in colors. We live in a beautiful, All America City.
Life is good.
Today is Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer. The weather was so strange with warm, humid weather, grey skies this morning and rain on and off. I felt like I was still in Holland!
I wasn’t afraid of the rain drops today, like I used to be. No longer did I worry about getting a little bit wet. I do like this mind shift.
We had planned to get up early and head to the beach, but the weather wasn’t great and we still had a lot of work to do unpacking and settling. We still managed to smoke some ribs and had a late BBQ. The night sky light was absolutely beautiful.
Fall is almost here.
Labor night rain.
Here I Am…
appreciating the fall weather in the Netherlands.
I went for a run with my dad this morning and the sun was shining. That’s a big deal here, and it set the tone for the rest of the day, inspiring us to Be outside.
As you look at the pictures, I hope you’ll take a moment to appreciate what surrounds you and to say a prayer or think a positive thought for those who are struggling right now. I love you…and wish you peace and strength.
